About the Author
Paola Morgese received a B.S. degree in civil hydraulic engineering and a M.S. degree in sanitary and environmental engineering, industrial branch, from the University of Naples, Italy, “Federico II”. She is PMP(R) certified with the PMI(R) (Project Management Institute). She has been from 2010 to 2013 the first knowledge management leader of the PMI(R) Global Sustainability Community of Practice. She won the 2012 GPM(R) (Green Project Management) Sustainability Award.

Solid coverage of an important topic for a critical audience

Project managers know (or should!) about the critical path. Any delay of a task on the critical path results in a delay to the whole project. But critical does not necessarily mean important. It's about time. With project managers it's often about time. About the time it takes to turn over a project. About the times that tasks take. And it's about time that this important topic has increased coverage for project managers. Since we're so focused on time we often don't have any focus on the long-term operation of whatever it is that we are delivering. And that smacks of sustainability. In this book, Paola Morgese spends significant coverage on the definition of sustainability and how it applies to projects. Investigating the triple bottom line of Social, Economic, and Ecological impacts, the author walks the reader through the meaning - and meaningfulness - of sustainability in projects in a very structured and thoughtful way.
As a co-author of Green Project Management, the Cleland Award-winning book which the author references, I'm glad to see a respected author and innovator such as Paola contributing this book to the project manager's bookshelf. Her volunteer work in the Sustainability Community of Practice, experience as a project manager, and PMP credential all give the book the sense of authority that it needs.
